Of rectangular form with shaped sides, a pierced carrying handle to the top and four splayed legs. The stool retains a rich original colour and an exceptional untouched patina, with wear entirely consistent with its age.

A 19th century English Waterfall Globe Wernicke oak bookcase, comprising four glazed sectional bookcase units above a panelled cupboard base with a single drawer.

Each section retains its original up-and-over glazed door with the characteristic Globe Wernicke metal side straps and fittings, allowing the sections to be stacked or removed as required. The cupboard base provides additional enclosed storage.

The oak has acquired a warm, rich colour with an excellent original patina, reflecting the quality and craftsmanship for which Globe Wernicke is renowned.

The lid is constructed from a striking arrangement of geometric Coromandel panels, centred by an elegant eight-pointed star, and framed by finely chip-carved borders. The sides are composed of alternating rectangular Coromandel panels, enriched with delicate bone inlaid quatrefoil motifs and matching carved decoration.

The interior is fitted with several compartments, while the underside of the lid is decorated with corresponding geometric ornamentation. The beautifully figured Coromandel, crisp carving and rich original patina make this an exceptional example of 19th century English craftsmanship.

The first is a beautifully turned olive wood spice cup with its original domed lid, displaying the rich honey-coloured figuring and warm patina characteristic of aged olive wood.

The second is an elegant drinking cup, finely turned from coconut shell and mounted on a rosewood pedestal and cover finial. The natural texture and colour variation of the coconut shell contrast beautifully with the deep tones of the rosewood.
