A rare sculptural club chair in thuya burl veneer. Thuya is an exotic wood with tones ranging from warm golden brown to deep brown. The characteristic “eyes” in the burl can appear scattered or clustered, giving each piece a lively and natural pattern. Today, this wood is scarce and difficult to source. Thuya grows in the Atlas Mountains near Essaouira, Morocco, where harvesting the underground burls is a labor-intensive process. The chair features a striking, organically shaped base and is upholstered in black leather with nailhead trim. Made in the 1970s.
